What We Love Reflects Who We Are

Everyone has something they love, and what they love reveals their intentions and character. For example, those who love chrysanthemums may have an aspiration for seclusion and solitude. Those drawn to plum blossoms may desire to leave public office and live peacefully in their hometown. Those who favor orchids are likely seeking to embody the qualities of a noble person, as orchids are admired for their subtle and refined fragrance. Similarly, those who admire pine trees and bamboo often demonstrate high principles and unwavering integrity.

When we find ourselves fond of certain objects, we aren't merely captivated by their external appearance. Instead, we invest our intentions into them, using these objects to guide and shape our inner character.

Take a moment to reflect on yourself. What is it that you love and cherish? A baseball player treasures their baseball; a soccer player values their soccer ball; a farmer esteems their farming tools. But who loves and cherishes people? That person would surely be a revered and saint-like figure, earning the respect of the world. Such individuals undoubtedly exist in our era, even if they remain unnoticed.

Rather than searching for these qualities in others, ask yourself: what if I cultivated such qualities within myself? With effort and intention, you too can grow into someone who embodies great integrity and humanity. So take time to think deeply—

what do you truly love, and what does it mean to you?
